to finish this quilt has been a long long way
for me. Maybe experienced quilters will be amused about the complicated
manner I made it. But for me, it has been better to work step by step. In the future,
I hope to get more practice and to become faster. To sew a quilt, I haven't seen on an y2k before, I decided to make rhombes.
To avoid difficulties with the slanted grain, I starched the fabrics.
At first the 25 fabrics of one swappartner got a starching bath. |
Then, they were ironed. |
The sides of the stencil, I made, had a length of 4,5 cm . At this time, I still used centimeters.
Now I've been convinced thinking in inches. When you
take care about the grain, I thought, it is the maximum size, a rhomb could have.

Sorting the rhombes according to their brightness was one of the nicest jobs.
First, I sewed them to stripes, |
and then the strips into a big rhomb. |
It took about two hours to complete a set. (OK, when I hurried up enormously,
one and a half ;-)) The most unpleasant part of this was the
cleanup of the iron to get rid of starch rests.
